Kitchen Display System your kitchen can actually read

KOTs fire from the POS to the kitchen screen instantly. Big fonts, dark theme, colour-coded urgency timers — Pending → Preparing → Ready.

What is a Kitchen Display System?

A Kitchen Display System (KDS) is a digital order board for the kitchen that replaces paper KOT printers. When a captain fires an order at the POS, it appears on the kitchen screen in real time with table number, items, quantities, and modifiers. Cooks move each ticket through Pending → Preparing → Ready, and a colour-coded timer flags orders that are taking too long — so nothing burns, and nothing is forgotten.

Kitchen Display System FAQs

What is a Kitchen Display System (KDS)? +

A Kitchen Display System (KDS) is a screen in the kitchen that replaces paper KOT printers. Orders fired from the POS appear instantly on the display, organised by status — Pending, Preparing, Ready — with colour-coded timers so the kitchen always knows what to cook next and nothing gets missed.

Does a KDS replace KOT printers? +

Yes. With Orderix, KOTs fire from the POS straight to the kitchen screen in real time — no thermal printers, paper rolls, or lost tickets. Any spare tablet or TV browser can act as the kitchen display.

How does the kitchen know which order is urgent? +

Every KOT card shows a live timer that changes colour as the order ages — green when fresh, yellow as it approaches your threshold, and pulsing red when urgent — so the kitchen can prioritise at a glance.

What hardware do I need for a kitchen display? +

Any device with a browser — an old Android tablet, an iPad, or a TV with a browser stick. The Orderix KDS uses a dark theme with large fonts designed to be readable across a hot, busy kitchen.

Does the KDS work during internet outages? +

Orders placed at the POS during an outage are stored locally and appear on the kitchen display as soon as connectivity returns. On the same local network, sync is near-instant.

The KDS is included in every plan — see pricing, or pair it with the POS terminal and GST billing.
